The movement of all pieces have been altered to take advantage of the exponentially increased complexity. The rook, for example, can still move an infinite amount of spaces in one direction. But instead of 4 directions, the rook can now move in 7 – up and down into alternate timelines, and into the past. If the space directly in front of a pawn is taken, the pawn can move simply move into the next timeline and continue forward on its path. Kings can move one space in any direction, including into the past and alternate timelines. Queens are as immensely overpowered as you’d expect, especially when you CLONE THEM BY CREATING ALTERNATE TIMELINES.
There are even two ENTIRELY NEW TYPES OF UNIT – the Unicorn and the Dragon, who can move triangularly and quadrangularly, respectively. It’s even more complicated than it sounds. Your skills in 2D chess will not help you here. By strategically manipulating alternate timelines, you can end up with ENTIRE BOARDS full of queens, bishops, and rooks in the present, making huge defensive walls that span multiple timelines.
