If you like a simulator where you race a fast car around then this is not for you. Unlike some “simulators” which are really much more of an arcade game, OMSI 2 offers far more realism. Bus stops are relatively close together, so this really is more of a local bus route. The editor enables you to create your own maps and routes, but this is not for the feint hearted, it takes a lot more work and dedication than I have. Fortunately, there are many additional maps available, on or off Steam some of which are free, others for a charge. If you like the idea of a realistic bus simulator rather than a more arcade bus driving game, this is the one to go for.
Downsides, and there are a few. The program is badly optimised, even for an old game, the highest graphics settings are very demanding for all but the very best CPUs. Set the options too high and it all appears to work for a while, until your bus turns into a space hopper and starts jumping about upsetting your passengers. Some of the downloadable maps can be tricky to get working as they often require additional downloads which are not always easily identifiable.
