After playing the Full Release of Pulang: Insanity, I can honestly say I’m left with mixed feelings about it. Don’t get me wrong, the game was scary at certain points, I felt tense while playing, and the atmosphere was good. But, it felt kind of “bland”. There’s not really too many threats in the game, other than the Cockroach Girl and the Demon at the end of the game. Everything else is just for scares and effects. Most of the time, you’re just running back and forth trying to figure out what key to collect or what item you need to progress, so it’s pretty much a point A to B kind of thing.
I will say the game set an eerie tone when playing. While walking around, you might hear a random whisper or two, someone crying, or even some laughter that might put you over the edge. But, after a while, you come to realize that it’s nothing serious and you keep progressing. The story is pretty messed up in some gory ways, but it kind of confused me with the direction it went.
