Hiveswap: Act 1 is a very stylized point and click adventure game set in the Homestuck web comic universe. I have not read these, so I went in without any preconceived notions. Right off the bat, the artwork in this game is amazing. This game just oozes style, just look at the screeshots – they’re beautiful – and the animation is fantastic as well. The game wastes no time in setting up the plot. A brother and sister are minding their own business in their backyard when a gigantic alien centipede comes crashing through the yard, chasing them. You play as Joey Claire, the older sister of Jude, her nerdy brother. As a talented dancer and puzzle solver, it is up to you to save your brother and find out just what the heck is going on. The narration and conversations in this game have a very casual, modern way of speaking, and it fits in well with the overall presentation.
