Game Overview

First with the good. Being back in Lost Heaven feels special. I have a hard time remembering the layout of the city as I once did outside of a few obvious landmarks. Every once in a while, there is that “Oh yeah, I remember this!” moment and it feels magical. The missions are all recreated well, some even seeing additional scenes added in, or have new post-mission sequences. This definitely changes the pace for fans who know the story beat for beat. All these things left intact are really well done. Unfortunately some of the things that have changed really hinder the experience in my opinion.

These are not necessarily things the game did poorly, but rather they’re changes to what made the original feel the way it did all those years ago. First of all, the combat has been completely overhauled and to me, in the wrong direction. No longer can you dodge roll and invent your own cover, you now stick to cover like any other generic third person shooter.
