Game Overview

As someone who has worked in a lighthouse, I’m really in awe that the developers were able to capture what it’s like to work at a lighthouse. Yeah that’s an accurate representation of early lighthouse life. Yes this is a horror game with fantastic elements. Yes this has that vintage PS1 feel. The devs still went that extra mile to make sure the fresnel (fray-nell) lens looked accurate and the weight system was correct. This is all for a game that’ll run you about two hours and a half of game time.

No one lives under the lighthouse does a great job of building up the dread when there’s no enemies lurking around the corner and telling a coherent story without having to dump diary entries on us. There’s a lovely use of a soundtrack to build dread and the use of oil from the lighthouse messying up our workplace to indicate things are going horribly wrong. While there are chase sequences, it’s nothing a casual gamer can’t learn to outrun and even if you’re caught, the game is incredibly generous with giving you many chances to try again.
