Game Overview
The Awakening was one of my all time favourite games that I just randomly stumbled upon one day and Thea 2 seems to capture all of the things I loved about the first game and then expands into a few of the criticisms I had but never got around to writing. Here is a quick list of pros and cons from the first week of early access. Thea, it’s certainly in my top 5 games of all time. The second instalment is shaping up to be an incredible successor. Since it was just released there are a fair amount of bugs. Thea 1 was a very streamlined and clean playing experience, so I have total faith that the bugs will be worked through quickly. Characters got simplified a lot. Instead of having about forty characteristics which were randomly used in various kinds of combat, they now have about ten. In all honesty, I had no idea which skill was good for what, but after the streamlining, the characters seem very similar to each other. In the original, non warrior characters were almost guaranteed to be useful in nonphysical combat. Here. I didn’t yet figure how to win nonphysical combat, because everyone seem to be weak. Combat itself was revamped a lot. Seems more complicated, doesn’t really feel more complex. And it’s slow. Everything takes ages, which makes me use auto resolve as much as possible.
