Metal Gear Rising is easily one of the most fun hack and slash games I’ve played with good combat mechanics. A very fun to use blade mode that has to be used for defense as well as attack. A great boss fights, and a soundtrack that goes very well with the action. That alone would make it a game I recommend but Revengeance not only manages to be a great hack. And slash game but it manages to be a great Metal Gear, not just with the kind of plot and characters. You would expect from the series but from the entertaining codec calls, being able to use stealth. Just done my first playthrough of easy mode and begun normal mode, gotta say, this game is a heap of fun. I’d expect nothing less from PlatinumGames, but it’s obviously not your typical Metal Gear escapade. If you want a deep story, you should look elsewhere. This is clearly a popcorn video game with insane action sequences. The stealth element is almost completely optional. In fact, it’s better to just not bother, so you can rack up BP. I hate this game as much as I love it. It’s like that girl you dated that looked so good that you chose to deal with her baggage for a limited time. I would have enjoyed this much better if I chose easy. I love challenging games, but the challenge doesn’t fit right here and can be a complete buzzkill when you are punished due to horrible camera and mechanics.
