For the most part, the art style speaks for itself. It is a very simple voxel style which will likely be polarizing to most. Personally, I think it is very charming. The game is very clear in its conveyance despite the simple graphic style. Resolution settings ensure that those voxels will always look crisp, and a scalable and simple HUD dispel any potential frustration present here. Performance is fantastic to boot.

As for the vanilla experience, the pace of the game is always engaging. There is a large handful of mechanics that keep ball rolling, so to speak- hunger is just one of them. This is good because meaningful progression is always incentive, moment to moment. While the core game play is about discovery, looting, averting certain doom, and taking down some tough enemies, I felt that Barony envelopes these activities into a seamless and continuous adventure- as a result, I don’t really notice Barony as a sum of its parts, but as a well-crafted experience.
