Game Overview
Adore is an indie monster-taming action roguelite. Just those words strung together should get some people excited, it sure did for me. Please keep in mind that this game is definitely in Early Access, and there are going to be some expected bugs and QoL issues, but we should all expect these to be resolved for the final version. Playing as Lukha, you are in a semi-dead and constantly reviving state, much like many other protagonists trapped in their respective roguelike/lite settings. You enter into the domain of Draknar, the god of the creatures, as an apprentice to try to lift the curse that are taking over the creatures.
To be honest, there’s not much in the way of a story once you get into it, except for the insults you get from Draknar every time you die. The game is played in a top-down manner, with beautiful graphics and I played with a DS4 controller, which worked reasonably well. It’s certainly an unique take on the action genre because the main character cannot perform any attacks at all. Instead, he can only tame creatures who then become linked to him as part of his life.
