That being said, looking back on it overall i enjoyed the game a lot. The story, while a little hard to follow is decently solid, there are plenty of branches and ways to get your characters killed which will ultimately lead to different situations unfolding. If you’re coming into this game expecting it to be like a Banner Saga clone then you’ll be disappointed, AoG bears similarities in mechanics due to being a fellow turn based strategy RPG but the gameplay style is extremely different, while Banner Saga often rewarded blitz strikes quickly maiming opponents so that they could only retaliate with weak blows, AoG favours a more traditional “Tank upfront DPS behind” style, and learning how to manipulate your turns to keep active buffs on your characters will be vital to your success.
