Blazing Chrome is run and gun that draws inspiration from several classic series. In addition to the obvious similarities to Contra, there are close range melee attacks like Metal Slug, and mechs that aren’t unlike Mega Man X’s Ride Armor. Although the influences are easy to see, the end product is a game that feels more like an original creation than an attempt at cloning any of those games. Blazing Chrome is all about shooting, right Wrong. You can pick up different weapons and power-ups but your 2 default characters also have a melee attack. Things get even more interesting with the unlock able characters because both of them are melee only so your second play through will be quite different. Instead of running and gunning you’ll be.. running and slashing. Now the game itself is very responsive, smooth, fast paced and pretty to look at. Every level looks unique and is well designed and so are the tough but fun and fair boss fights. I didn’t encounter any bugs, glitches or frame drops.
