My recommendation comes with a lot of caveats. Booth is an interesting game that clearly had a lot of time and thought put into it, that ultimately misses its mark. Despite its shortcomings, there’s a lot to like about it. What it needs is polishing. Booth was clearly inspired by Papers Please. The gameplay has that same mundane-yet-frantic quality at the best of times, but it can descend into outright boredom at the worst. One problem is that there isn’t as much pressure to do well at your job. Making enough money to get by is a trivial task. I never once felt the pressure of “I had better do really well today or I might not be able to eat”, which I think is what the game is going for. This was on the harder difficulty, as well.
