Game Overview

The game is, as numerous others have mentioned, basically Armored Core. I myself is also a keen fan of AC and so only naturally did I preorder DxM. The game is fantastic in many ways. The toon shader works surprisingly well with the mech genre, and the action is just buttery smooth. Performance is wonderful, and variety in machines is not bad. What didn’t work for me is that the game is made too easy with the auto aiming system. With how terrifically maneuverable arsenals are, I truly think auto-aim is a function that at least needs to be able to be switched off. I mean, auto-aim for handguns and sub machine guns? Sure. Works for high speed action. Assault rifles? Hard to swallow. Sniper rifles, even? What in the world? Using a melee attack also gives you a nice boost so that you instantly get up close to the enemy so that you can slice them, but that imho kills the fun of chasing down the enemies. IMHO, DxM needs to be more like Ace Combat instead of a Gundam VS game. Armored Core is more like the former, and DxM the latter.
