Game Overview

The game play is responsive and controls well with KB/M. I don’t play rogue likes like these with a controller, so I can’t give you my input there. The curve of starting out a new run and adding items/tarot cards to your character works beautifully. At first you start out slow in a small arena, gradually getting stronger as you progress through each location as you fight stronger and faster enemies. I’ll talk a bit about the art. Personally, I’m not a fan of the CRT overlaid scan line aesthetic, so I changed it in the settings. The actual artwork is very interesting, as I’m not sure which art style they wanted to stick with. The playable characters look a like they’re taken from a 2010-era Flash game. The monsters seem like quirky versions of Nuclear Throne enemies. The map seems like FTL and Slay the Spire had a baby. The Rotting Elder… I couldn’t even begin to try to describe. To me, the different artistic styles amount to one of the things that definitely makes the game unique, and I kinda like that.
