Game Overview
These fire your guns and as you hit chains of beats, your guns get more powerful. Pressing the left key shoots the bottom gun and the right key shoots the top and either can be pressed for the kick drum beat. This means you’re supposed to be looking at the beat to hit them on time but also looking at where you’re firing to see what you’re supposed to hit. With my inability to separate my focus between two entities like an iguana, I found this to be a bit frustrating. Yet as frustrating as it was, it still ended up getting boring.
However, once you get to that certain point in the game, a snare is added in. This is finally a second row of beats to hit, but as fun as it was at first, it quickly added to my frustration. Aside from requiring more focus on the beats and even less on the mutant shooting game play above, it also presented a problem with the odd timing in the music. It’s hard to get a feel for a rhythm when the beat has odd syncopation and little is consistent. Later levels are rampant with this and, while it didn’t really hold me up until the very end, I always found it annoying to lose points and weapon upgrades because things would be crazy for a minute.
