There are plenty of retro-style platformers on the market, but Exception distinguishes itself by a unique presentation in which the levels form and re-form around the heroic robot as the player progresses through the level. Setting the game inside the abstract space of a computer allows for more abstract level design that is typically seen in this sort of genre – one particularly memorable boss all but tears the level to shreds chasing you, and got the better of me more times than I’d like to admit.
