Game Overview

This is the same with F1 Manager. Frontier seem to have approached this under the assumption that management is boring despite “Manager” being in the game’s title. As such, the most important parts of a team’s work, which happen back at the factory away from raceday, are extremely superficially simulated. Your work here basically consists of commissioning projects to improve the car, work on next year’s car, or manufacturing spare parts. There’s not even much thought to these choices, since all choices are guaranteed to yield results. It’s not like you can go down a design dead end, like in real F1.

It’s very unfortunate they have not focused on the work between races more. A game like Football Manager has shown that even the supposedly boring parts of sports – such as scrolling through endless lists of potential staff can be fun. And if they did not want to focus on the technical side, why not the personality side, so we can all be Guenter Steiner. The main part of the game, and what seduces you, is the race simulation.
