Game Overview

An outstanding game. It has a lot of fun factor due to excellent presentation and a challenging decision tempo. The game strongly promotes using teamwork on the battlefield. Sound effects are excellent with very meaty explosions, and some nice dakka from the guns. There’s a good variety of bad guys, and the AI is fairly decent to downright dastardly. The game has no strategic layer, but I think that shows such games do not require a strategic layer if the tactical game is exceptional. A great tactical layer is better than a good tactical & strategic layer since that where the real game play is for a turn-based tactical shooter. The game overall retains the gritty feel of Gears, not just the lore and visuals but gameplay as well. Gears tactics is a game that rewards being bold, running forward and taking risks. Things like; extra action points for the whole team for executing enemies in the open.
