Game Overview

Juan Aguacate, a former wrestler, now lives in quiet, Mexican town. At least until Carlos Calaca, the ruler of the dead world, kidnaps the mayor’s daughter. And his undead creatures overrun the living world. Juan stands no chance and is quickly kill off. But fortunately he finds a magical wrestling mask in the undead world which gives him power. Of course his new quest is to defeat Calaca and rescue the damsel in distress. The game uses a humorous style with numerous pop culture references.

Guacamelee is a side-scrolling platformer with interconnected areas. It follows the Metroidvania style: Juan gains upgrades over time which allow him to overcome obstacles and reach new areas. Ultimately he gains the powers to explore the whole map and reach his final goal.
