Hellion comes with a certain sense of loneliness and anxiety. The first moment you jump from an airlock, you will feel it. The emptiness of space is captivate in so many ways. as you move around in zero-g, the only sound you hear is the hissing of your jet pack and the beating of your own heart. You will feel the danger at it’s fullest when you enter a debris field to scavenge and start to see chunks of space debris whizzing by your head at hundreds of miles per hour. You will feel the panic when your O2 goes into the red and you can’t find a refill canister. He will feel the sense of satisfaction the first time you pressurize a capable, fully functional station you built yourself, or when you finally get home with the upgrade ship you just salvaged.

This game hit a sweet spot, between exploration, survival, simulator and design. A very unique game, touches on Elite: Dangerous style space flight, Subnautica themed survival and enough difficulty to make game play thrilling. Real risk/reward mechanics in play; nothing you can own is permanent or safe, just like your life in-game. Like space themed games? This hits the nail on the head. Movement and physics mechanics is enough to put most zero-grav games to shame. Lots of player-based complaints arise from the difficulty of this game, what I say to the people that complain: Git Gud, no really you should not expect a game to hand you survival on a silver platter; playing as a protagonist, the ‘special little snowflake’ who survive miraculously, and is given vast amounts of ‘beginners luck’ and guardian angels protecting them as they play.
