Game Overview
The combat in Just A Memory is very simplistic in the beginning but as you are clearing the many bosses each will have their own abilities that they use against you and some later in the game will use a combination of the previous enemies abilities It becomes a game of memorization with the bosses to figure out what abilities they have but you can’t ever get too comfortable because it seems after a certain damage threshold they all have the ability to go into overkill where they just go absolutely crazy with their abilities and there is almost no way to predict what is going to happen. Overall each boss has a great dynamic with the learning curve of each new ability and fighting style. I also appreciate that the bosses all have their own stages that make it feel refreshing for each encounter. There is a dodge mechanic in the game that is very useful in avoiding waves of the energy attacks the various bosses use against you which is nice but I would have loved to have an ability that can be unlocked early on that would work to clear some of the projectiles the enemies attack you with as it feels mostly like you will just spam the dodge ability anytime things get too hectic which makes sense in the context of the game it just would have been nice if there was more variety with ways of dealing with the onslaught of enemy projectiles.
