Game Overview

Langrisser I & II is fine. Not amazing, but good and in a genre this niche where most games range between tedious, meh, bad, and ok, fine is good. The commander/merc system is unlike any other SRPG I’ve played (at the start of each mission, you pay gold to give each commander a number of mercenaries) and it’s actually quite efficient to allow the AI the move the mercs for you so even though the board fills up with units, you only have to move a couple. The game play is solid and deep enough to make things interesting.

I have many criticisms (see the long form below), but all-in-all I think this is a worthwhile experience, though more so if one can pick it up on sale than at full price. Long form: I wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming this is the first game they ever made. Chara-Ani, a company more known for anime figurines and merchandise is listed as the developer, though in-game credits suggest City Connection Co., Ltd. Get Nanairo Reincarnation PC Game.
