To me, an avid fan of the RPG, this fact alone beats the whole “B-but it isn’t a creepy slow narrative full of dread” opposition that some have, for it followed the same path as most modules tend to: A pulpy, very Lovecraftian path.
Now, having read that, you must be thinking that if I spent so long talking about the “spirit” rather than the content of the game, that the gameplay itself must be horrible. That could be further from the truth, but not by much: The gameplay is solid. Mechanically, it isn’t perfect nor is it particularly unique, but it fits the soul of the game like a glove.
