Game Overview
Your basic attack is dropping your over sized sword in place, turning into a fairy and flying to another position before your transformation meter runs out. You can then call the sword to your hand and it will damage/kill whatever it hits during it’s journey. That same attack is used for general navigation as well as there is no sprinting or jumping. Your default run speed isn’t very fast and if you stick to running on foot the game slows down considerably and is rather boring. However, once I accepted and adapted to this fact, navigating the game was much smoother and more enjoyable.
Defeating a boss gives you a new transformation that grants you a new way of navigating and attacking. My only real complaint is the act of changing into your new forms. Tilting the right thumb stick opens a radial menu with all your available transformations while releasing closes the menu and activates whatever transformation your had highlighted. I dunno if my controller just isn’t accurate enough or if there’s just too many transformations but I’m not able to swap quickly because I’m likely to not select what I want and wind up having to do it again.
