The cards have a broad range of effects, with more interesting cards than I’m used to seeing lately. In addition to damage, defenses, status effects, buffs, and various economy-related effects, the grid is a mechanic utilized for depth, which is where this game stands out. There are effects that let you manipulate enemy positions, damage enemies before engaging them, or which rely on the position of cards on the grid, as cards fall down onto the grid from the top, and drop downward when spaces under them are emptied. Board positioning can also be a big factor with certain enemy types, who buff enemies they drop above, or protect enemies they’re adjacent to, for example.
