Game Overview
Muv Luv photonflowers consists of 12 side stories, 7 occurring in the Extra world line and the remaining in the Alternative one. Of the Extra stories, ‘Before the Sakura Trees Bloom’ is the best and feels the most substantial. Picking up directly after the conclusion of the Sumika arc of Extra, it’s fun to return to a lot of these characters. It had many issues that made it difficult to enjoy, feeling too long for what was ultimately a very simple story, with a contrived conflict that made it hard to like either of the major characters. But the ending was satisfying, even if ultimately the story felt redundant, with characters ending in the same place as the original’s end.
The other Extra stories were very short, each revolving around one of the characters. None of them really work beyond the occasional humorous scenario within, and feel like a waste of time. These stories could have been a way for the writers to develop them further beyond their roles in Extra, since in that everything always revolved around Takeru.
