Nimbatus is a lot of fun. It is essentially a 2D drone-ship design and engineering type of game, featuring your personal creations at its core. You pilot your drone to accomplish single player missions on planets, or pit your own wild and fully autonomous drone designs against other player-created autonomous drones. Its not completely fleshed out yet, as I can imagine so much more for this game, but what is here is incredibly solid. The concept of the game involves the player designing a drone to navigate a planet. Every planet in different systems provide different, although at the moment, limited challenges. The game play in this one is interesting to say the least. There are more or less two main screens the player will be looking at : build screen and the command screen. The meat and bones of the game is designing and building your drone. The interesting catch is the player can easily assign any key to activate a part – which in a sense acts like a variable. Sure your thrusts turn on when you press “W” to go forward, but if a sensor is going off, you can automatically tell the thrusts to go off.
