Game Overview

Parkitect does a good job of modernizing the Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 / 2 game. Most notably, great visualization tools, seemingly very intelligent sims, and great ride-building tools that add welcome features to the RCT-style building techniques. The one item that I’d like to see improved is performance–I believe it’s a CPU bottleneck in my system–I’m only getting around 40 fps in a part with one coaster, three flat rides, and some shops & props in an otherwise empty park. Love the grid placement and the RCT2 feeling. Detail to management is a lot better than in Planet Coaster, so it feels that you really are more involved to your shops. Lots of small detail to random things. Like how many balloons are left in the shop is really visible as the balloons decrease above the shop. Several park simulators have released over the years, but none of them captured the joy of Roller Coaster Tycoon until Parkitect. I’m not a huge fan of the simple visuals, but the game play/simulation is rich and engaging.
