Game Overview

Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly is a beautiful visual novel with an undercurrent of guilt and sadness, and a somewhat unusual structure. I’m going to try and keep this review spoiler free though. I didn’t really experience any glitches. I’m fairly sure all the reported ones on the main page were from before this got a patch. That out of the way, I mentioned the structure is unusual? That’s because you gain points in the mini game to unlock side stories. The side stories all feel like things that would be in a character’s route normally? but they’re off to the side I guess so you don’t need to quite skip so much when you’re trying to unlock more endings through the flowchart.

The flowchart’s a pretty nice feature though sometimes you need to skip back further than you’d think. The side stories do a good job of fleshing out relationship moments without messing up the pacing of the main game. There’s a lot of really cute moments, and I appreciate getting to see the guys interacting with each other a lot as well as with the protagonist. Even if a lot of it is bickering. It feels like you get to know everyone pretty well? Even if a few of them have additional.. layers. shall we say. Get Pain Train PC Game.
