Game Overview
The game takes a few risks. Tries to do new things. The parts where you have to rewrite memories is a wonderful experiment in game design. The unique combat system tries to do something new and is full of potential. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite work, largely due to the unruly camera; it’s often impossible to figure out what is going on because the camera is absolutely all over the place. A huge shame because the battle system could have been the best part. When the camera behaves itself it’s a tonne of fun. Matter aren’t helped by the tutorial, which is awful. Luckily there is an excellent Steam Community guide to fill the void.
The platforming parts which make up a fair amount of the game are pretty run-of-the-mill but fun nonetheless. What’s most disappointing is the degree to which you can actually interact with the world: Neo Paris is such a beautifully rendered locale you want to be able to touch it “digitally” far more than you’re allowed. Despite the aforementioned flaws, I found Remember Me a treat. I’m a gamer that loves games that tell stories so I’m perhaps more forgiving than I should be. There IS a lot that needs forgiving in Remember Me, but if you love story based games, I think you’ll like this. Get Mech Rage PC Game.
