Space Gladiators Escaping Tartarus is quite a fun roguelite 2D action platformer that is quite charming. It has artwork resembling Isaac, controller feeling similar to Hollow Knight, and some other elements that invoke Dead Cells. It’s a roguelite in that there are a few unlock able characters with different starting attributes, and also they level up to offer a slightly different game play experience the longer you stick with the game. So far, I have had a lot of fun with Space Gladiators although I am not particularly good at it. The game play feels rather challenging and usually I am always running out of health rather quickly with not enough replenishing to carry a run too far. There is still much balancing being re tweaked constantly. Maybe one of these days, I will find the right set of items and play well enough to see the game through. The charm of the game comes from the hand-drawn artwork, the mostly ridiculous sound effects, and the ease and fluidity of the controls.
