Game Overview
My favorite parts of the game thus far are the fishing mechanics, the crop discovery and growing process, and the recipe discovery mini game. I am happy that I don’t have to carry around bait (or multiple types of bait, in most games), that I get to discover new crops to grow back at the camp while I am out exploring, and I have fun with swapping ingredients to figure out the correct combinations for new recipes. All the negative reviews are about the walking uses up energy.
Like most other reviewers who have actually played the game for a decent length of time before making a judgment, I have concluded that while the walking-takes-energy mechanic seems annoying and unnecessary at first, it is important to the overall feel of the game. Having limited energy means that you have to balance your time and resources carefully – make sure you cook before you explore, make sure you’ve taken care of your crops before you set out to accomplish the next task, etc. The game is very nice. I haven’t gotten too far yet, but there is a lot to do, a good-sized world, and an interesting, if simple, story. If you enjoyed any of the games.
