As with the earlier Journals, the game design cleverly mimics a book in its appearance and layout while also portraying glorious Lovecraftian artwork among its ‘pages’. There is also the options of VA, music/sound effects and a Gallery complete with lore, unlocked artwork and a history of this ‘Universe’. There are Achievements that compliment the three differing levels of difficulty that is kept consistent throughout this trilogy which I felt was important to keeping the familiarity and quick-play aspects while allowing the 3 varying Journals to be played in any sequence spoiler-free. A positive to this series that I enjoyed was each Journal experience doesn’t have the same game-play and by this I mean that the RP dice battle aspects used to determine the wins/losses have additional features that are unique to each Journal story.
