VR really opened the door to this level of immersion for sure, but all credit should go to the developer behind this. It’s truly remarkable what he’s accomplished. Getting the pacing and feeling of some of the nuances of the sport and actual act of fighting someone without actually having boxed himself is worth the price of admission alone. For perspective, I tried Knockout League and had to shut it off after the first fight for one simple reason; It committed the same sin virtually every other VR or motion controlled fighting game has before it. It did’nt take the user seriously, watered down physics that have more to do with a rhythm game or timing game on guardrails than a fight.
Is ToTF perfect, the only thing missing is the concussion and black eyes. Of course not, but IMO it’s leaps beyond anything else mechanically and “experience” wise. I know that is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it’s well earned for this title. For example, even the 1st opponent takes me back to exactly what it was like to lightly spar with a training partner. Not too hard, not too slow, focusing on technique and movement.
