Game Overview

It’s a solid Total War game. I don’t know what everyone’s really got against it. I’ve done a few campaigns, across Normal and Hard difficulty, before and after the Allegiance update. The new update is definitely an improvement, not that the base game was bad, if a little lifeless. I half agree with the unit similarity criticism, the factions are split in to a couple of different faction ‘Styles’ but I’ve rarely felt it to be overly restrictive. General management and loyalty is not as hard as people make out. It doesn’t take long to assign estates to different generals.

I haven’t overly struggled with loyalty in my campaigns, enough to make it interesting but not a lot really. Siege maps are great, like them. Looks gorgeous. Recruitment system is good, I like it. If you like the newer Total War games you’ll enjoy it, maybe it’s a bit of a change for those used to the earlier games. A good game, that definitely doesn’t deserve the negative reviews it seems to have been getting. Sure it’s not your traditional Total War game, but that’s why it’s called Total War Saga.
