Game Overview
Unique art style, good combat system, and nice use of roguelike design to tell the story and unlock new tricks in combat. It tooks some learning to understand what was going on visually, but now I can read enemy animations and attacks. The learning process is very satisfying, and fits the mysterious theme of the world. Combat is designed to punish spam moves, and reward skillful play and combos. The price is fair at $10 USD, and I’d recommend a controller. There are some UI bugs in the menu but nothing horrible.
The basic concept is if you overheat you die, and everything outside of basic movement generates heat. The aesthetic and sound are very well done and enjoyable. Attacks feel powerful, there is a fun variety of enemies, and I really enjoyed the heat mechanic – I actually had to be precise and planned instead of just button mashing my way through.
