Game Overview

Warbanners is a tactics game with RPG elements where you control a party of mercenaries. It has a linear campaign with a good enough story where you go from combat mission to combat mission and sometimes have to make some small choices which may affect your karma or the starting mission conditions. There is a nicely draw world map where you go between missions and there it’s where you get to manage your mercenary party and hire assistants. The main meat of the game is the tactical combat and I think it’s well done. It’s turn-based and features an action point system for actions while also taking into account morale, stamina, facing, lighting and height levels. Each of the factors influences your chance to hit. There are a few mercenary classes and they mostly fall in the defender/archer/clerig/mage/paladin archetypes, so nothing new there. When a character gains a level, you get to choose one from three random-picked options and a special one at levels 5 and 10. There are few attributes and hovering over them will show detailed information’s about their usage. There is also an in-game help system which is pretty use full. Each mercenary can also equip one artifact.
