Ah, Yakuza. Possibly one of the most consistently great series I recently discovered last year. If you have ever been curious to give this series a try, please do not hesitate. However, I strongly recommend that you start with Yakuza 0, which is available on Steam as well and is available at a cheaper price. It is canonically the first game in the series, and acted as a great introduction to me as well as many others. Kiwami 1 is great too, and I recommend playing it after 0, however so far I am enjoying this game a bit more compared to Kiwami 1, since Kiwami 1 felt a bit more like an expansion to 0 rather than its own game, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I also have a personal preference for the mini games in this, such as being able to play Virtua Fighter 2 and more.
This game is on an engine that’s newer than 0 or Kiwami 1, so it’s a little more demanding to run. This is an easy recommend though, every Yakuza game I played so far is. These games are possibly some of the best value for your money you will ever get. It puts plenty of triple A releases to shame in terms of content, and most importantly, FUN content. The stories are also fairly lengthy and engaging as well. So if you’ve read all this way for some weird reason and you interested in what you’re hearing, don’t hesitate and check this series out.
