Game Overview
Starting things off, the levels feel larger than they need to be. Call them straight-up empty because that is an overstatement, but, even though each level has 200 quills to collect, the levels feel like there isn’t enough for the amount of space used. On top of this, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie aren’t perfect games, but Yooka Laylee tries really hard to be them as though they are. They have problems, and, likewise, Yooka Laylee ended up with those same problems. A first time player would have several instances where they try everything out of desperation in BK, and it’s here in full force. Banjo Kazooie had a problem where a task resets if you don’t complete it before leaving the level. Yooka Laylee also features this problem. Regarding things that aren’t wrong with BK though, some of the moves don’t feel like they were explained well enough.
Much like Gruntilda before him, Capital B, the villain, has a tendency to taunt you throughout your journey. Unfortunately, it isn’t remotely clever nor does Capital B have any distinct schtick to make it memorable. A lot of the time, it feels like he’s just saying random things. While I like most of the worlds in this game, the Glitter glaze Glacier in particular feels really dull. I said before that the worlds are larger than they should be, but THIS world in particular has no business being as large or empty as it is. I also feel like there is a bit too much to collect in this game. It isn’t to the extent of say, DK64, where getting EVERYTHING can get to the point of doing chores, but it’s still a bit much. Finally, I wish there were more enemies, and, particularly, enemies that fit with the theme of the world. Get Empires Apart PC Game.
