Game Overview
You start the game in a room that you are forbidden to leave, kept there by a Reaper. Upon finding that your door has been unlocked, you decide to explore the castle and try to get back home to your mother. After encountering the statue of a goddess and being gifted amulets to help assist in exorcism, you’re forced to brave evil spirits and demons that roam the castle. Throughout the course of the game, you’ll slowly uncover the history of the castle as well as your own past. The story takes place within the span of a night but there is a flashback sequence. Zelle is, as the developer puts it, an ‘occult adventure’ game developed in RPG Maker MV. Although the game is very short, it is very sweet. The game play is rather lackluster but it makes up for it with its unique combat system and the story the player is thrown into. Both the soundtrack and the writing of the game are phenomenal. The writing, although a bit lacking in some parts, is overall memorable and has a very meaningful theme. The game can be compared to Under tale in many ways but Zelle is unique enough to stand on its own. You may find yourself crying at the end of this game.
