Game Overview

Like I mentioned before, the game is the same throughout it’s duration. Almost painfully the same. There are over 200 collectables scattered throughout your journey with the idea being that they contribute to the narrative’s bigger picture. I wouldn’t say they fail at this, but it also feels like they were added to give you something to do for a couple seconds before moving on to the next investigation “puzzle”. The thoughts left behind by your late wife in particular feel like things you could assume to be true based on what you learn about Roman himself, and they contribute a non-negligible amount to the overall collection count.

Speaking of things that feel like padding, the absolute biggest issue with this game are the demons. Generally speaking the demons also fulfil the same purpose as the collectables, distracting you and impeding your progress for a few minutes at a time. You have to sneak up behind them to do a QTE take down that feels incredibly strange when playing with a keyboard. When they first arrive I will admit they are neat and do tie into the plot, theme, and change things up, however by the end of the game they will feel like such a chore. Get Surviving Mars PC Game,
