Game Overview

Golf Gang has some monster potential but it’s presentation and interface are atrocious requiring forgiveness, patience and a whole lot of elbow grease to witness the game’s full potential. The biggest culprit is the control scheme. GG is a racer, for the most part, you are attempting to get to the hole in the quickest time possible with minimal strokes and this is handled in a very arcade-like fashion. After your first stroke subsequent strokes will proceed in highly unorthodox fashion to standard golf games requiring the player to smash the ball in mid-air to propel further forward so as not to fall short of a jump, quickly smash the ball again to counter a roll back down a slope, smash the ball again to quickly turn a corner, etc, etc. Strokes are made by holding down the left mouse button, pulling the mouse back towards you, while at the same time gauging the strength of your swing, and then releasing LMB. Standard stuff for a standard golf game but fails quickly when you’re expected to perform these moves with knee-jerk response time.
