Game Overview

Gunkid 99 is a 2D arena shooter developed by Yongjustyong. The twist here is that you score points by collecting weapons rather than killing enemies. I originally heard about it on r/indie gaming and ended up picking the game up on itch a while back because it came with a Steam key. We have some more time on my itch copy of the game, but I haven’t completed it. Wanted to get something up there to help anyone looking at it on launch day. There are 5 different worlds, each with their own enemy types and challenges. Each world has 7 levels, and every level can be played infinitely on a leader board. Replay ability is strong in this one if you enjoy grinding for high scores. To get score, you have to collect weapons. They are several different weapons that will spawn randomly and you have to do this within a time limit. If you go longer than about 20 seconds, you lose. So game play consists of running around the level, dodging and killing the never ending swarm of enemies, and constantly picking up toys to shoot at them. The game is frantic and gets very difficult.
