Although the power-ups are only temporary they do stack and the glorious sight of a tornado of bullets wiping the whole screen of baddies is a joy to watch. One power-up that is worth knowing about is the temporary invulnerability you have when your ships first appears, when you collect a power-up or collect the power-up that looks like a windscreen wiper.
