Two of Llamasoft’s iOS titles have been dusted off and given some 3D sparkle to produce two very playable PC games. I don’t have VR equipment so I’ve played them in traditional 2D. You ship’s initial weedy blast can be enhanced by simply shooting enemies which gives you the power to shoot backwards. Shooting chains of enemies or certain other elements release power-ups that spin down the screen to be collected, these will increase your firepower or act as smart bombs, and you’ll quickly get to learn which power-ups bring which benefit and hope for your favorites to appear. Although the power-ups are only temporary they do stack and the glorious sight of a tornado of bullets wiping the whole screen of baddies is a joy to watch. One power-up that is worth knowing about is the temporary invulnerability you have when your ships first appears, when you collect a power-up or collect the power-up that looks like a windscreen wiper.
