Socketeer is a rogue lite where you can hack into enemies to gain their special abilities. I initially gave this game a negative review due to frustrating UI problems, but I decided to change the rating because the patches have fixed most of the issues – such as playing tutorial over and over. The last few updates made the pacing of the game a little bit more enjoyable, which is very important for a game with one life. As with most rogue lite, you have a procedural level generation, random shops with upgrades, and a few twists that are unique to this title. The “decompression” is a big mechanic in this game, anytime you blow up the wall you might get sucked into space, creating some funny and unexpected deaths.

In Socketeer you play as a small hacking robot who has no weapons, but is surround by enemies who do. Use environmental traps like lava pits, explosive canisters, stun lasers, and more to defeat enemies quickly! Strategically hack robots to control their combat abilities and use them to advance deeper. Into each space station stronghold in this charming sci-fi rogue like.
