Game Overview

This game clearly aimed at those with prior knowledge of the sport. If anything this release has become even more hard core on account of the emphasis on breeding and historical stats. There is little in the way of a tutorial and lot’s of menus and text so I suspect a non racing fan would get lost and quickly fed up. In summary if you have not played any of the previous Starters Orders games and are a horse racing fan you should buy this game without a second thought. If you own Starters Orders 6 then read on and make your mind up if the upgrade is worth it.

The premise of the game is you are a small trainer with a few usually moderate horses. You can start a UK game over the flat or jumps or there are options to play a USA game or a Australian game so plenty of options there. You can also choose to play as the trainer and owner or just the trainer. The trainer and owner options is the default and the best mode IMO. So you set training options and gallop your horses in order to get them fit and then target the appropriate races. Being a sim the races are familiar types.
