Cooking is rather simplistic, but allows for an enjoyable amount of customization that does effect gameplay in the long term. Cooking is done by putting ingredients into the oven and waiting for it to cook. Once the food is ready, it can be picked up and placed into the bar’s menu so that travelers can begin to request it. Before okaying the final product when cooking, additional ingredients can be added which are optional but can double, or even triple, the selling value of the initial product.

This appears later in the trends mechanic where a food fad occurs and food sell more if they have an optional ingredient in them. I would love to be able to save a custom dish as a recipe so that I wouldn’t have to add an ingredient every time, which seems like it may be on the way since dishes can already be renamed.
